Why did God create marriage?

The New Covenant
  • Malachi 2;11-16
  • Covenant-a relationship, a covenant specifies the terms under which the parties relate with one another.
  • The New covenant- Luke 22:20 This cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

The new covenant
  • It is important to keep in mind that marriage is a legal relationship established by God.
  • The marriage covenant functions under authority. Since covenants govern relationships, they always deal with the issue of authority. Without a hierarchy of authority, chaos is the results.

  • Marriage covenant broken under the penalty of death. When you break any covenant of God, you die on the spot, immediately. Broken marriages are a group of dead couples.

  • When you break a covenant you are separated from God and that’s death.

  • A law to protect an innocent wife
  • This law protected the wife from a godless and hateful husband
  • God had made an arrangement to protect a wife under such circumstances
  • Deut: 22:20-21
  • If the woman was guilty. Then she would be stoned.
  • God honors marriage and God honors sexual purity. Adultery in Israel was to be punished by stoning.
