- Covenant-a relationship, a covenant specifies the terms under which the
parties relate with one another.
- The New covenant- Luke 22:20 This cup is the New Testament in my blood,
which is shed for you.

- It is important to keep in mind that marriage is a legal relationship
established by God.
- The marriage covenant functions under authority. Since covenants govern
relationships, they always deal with the issue of authority. Without a
hierarchy of authority, chaos is the results.

- Marriage covenant broken under the penalty of death. When you break any
covenant of God, you die on the spot, immediately. Broken marriages are
a group of dead couples.

- When you break a covenant you are separated from God and that’s death.

covenant and our relationship with God.

- The effect; The people weep and groan because God ignores their

- The cause; They dealt treacherously with (i.e. divorcing) the wife of

- A law to protect an innocent wife
- This law protected the wife from a godless and hateful husband
- God had made an arrangement to protect a wife under such circumstances
- Deut: 22:20-21
- If the woman was guilty. Then she would be stoned.
- God honors marriage and God honors sexual purity. Adultery in Israel was
to be punished by stoning.
