Pastor, Husband,
Father, National
Evangelist, and
Teacher was born in
Center, Texas
January 2, 1961 to
the proud parents of
Joe Mitchell and
Jessie M. Garrett.
His mother became a
single parent at an
early age in his
life. He was reared
by a great group of
women that helped
his mother rear his
two siblings and his
father younger
sister and brother
when their mother
died. His mother is
an angel to raise
her Mother in-law
two younger
children. He often
remembers his four
Grandmothers who
helped spoil him.
Prince Garrett
became interested in
the word of God
during some trying
times in his youth.
He was involved into
a lot of criminal
activities that got
him put in jail.
During this era of
his life he began to
seek for some
meaning in life. He
began to see that he
wasn’t going
anywhere. Prince
Garrett drop out of
school in 1979
during his senior
year because of
drugs and worldly
influence in his
life. The journey
that he was on kept
him sinking into
deeper trouble.
Often, he would
think on God letting
him die from a
tragedy of something
and he would go to
hell as the Baptist
preacher proclaimed
when he attended
church. This fear of
God caused him to
search for answers
within his life.
What was the meaning
of life? Why was he
born? These
questions puzzle
him. After, going to
jail again and
looking at those
four walls he began
to pray as he was
taught too by his
Mother. “The prayer
he prayed was lord
if you would help me
out of this trouble
this time I would
become a changed
man.”
Prince Garrett was
led to the Lord by a
visiting preacher
during an outdoors
revival under a
tent. This event
took place in his
life in 1982. Soon
after his conversion
immediately he began
to pray for a strong
willed wife to help
meet his destiny in
life. He knew he
needed someone that
was compatible to
his strong will. For
a solid year the
lord purged him from
all his past sins
and his court case
was thrown out. He
continued to pray
and confess a wife.
Graciously, the lord
heard his prayers
during a church
conference in
Center, Texas where
many other states
delegate attended.
He met his soul mate
Ethel M. Johnson
Garrett from McLain,
Ms. The union was
such a God sent,
they both knew that
the timing was right
for the both of
them, so the union
took place after two
months of
preparation on
August 11, 1984. In
this union they are
the proud parents of
three lovely
children and one
grand daughter.
Prince
Garrett was called
to the ministry in
1985, began to
pastor his first
church in 1986 in
Henderson Texas for
two years. His wife
was a certified
school teacher. She
was called for a Job
offer back home in
Mississippi. Prince
Garrett conceded and
moved to Mississippi
in 1988. The
conference placed
him in a church in
Mississippi that
same year. From that
time until today
Prince Howard
Garrett have
Shepherd the church
in Benndale for
Seventeen years.
